Tengram Capital Partners LLC is building its beauty portfolio. Today it acquired This Works Products Limited for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 2003 by Kathy Phillips, who is the international beauty director for Condé Nast Asia and the health and beauty director of British Vogue, the U.K.-based brand sells aromatherapeutic beauty products across the body care, skin care and sleep categories. According to the company, each product is tested and evaluated by a panel of 50 women of different ages and backgrounds who review products during the development process. The company will not launch a product until its panel of women tells them, “this works.”

Meanwhile, a significant amount of business comes from thisworks.com and key wholesale accounts are predominantly in the U.K.

“We intend to invest in additional PR and marketing activities, in-store merchandising initiatives and customer acquisition efforts for our own e-commerce sites in the U.K,” said Richard Gersten, a partner at Tengram. “We also plan to launch the brand in the U.S. market and are targeting prestige, specialty and home shopping channels as the distribution points. In connection with the new distribution, we will seek new distribution opportunities outside of the U.K. and the U.S.”

Tengram Capital Partners’ current beauty portfolio includes Laura Geller Beauty, Nest Fragrances and DevaCurl.
