HONG KONG–Global Sources is expanding its network of China Sourcing Fairs with a new edition in Singapore. The event will take place November 22-24 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre and represents a cooperative effort with Fujian Huiyuan International Exhibition Co.
The new show will feature China-based suppliers of gifts items, home products, machinery, garments, textiles and other items. Organizers expect more than 600 exhibitors to take part in the fair. Global Sources has several trades shows planned this year in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Dubai and Johannesburg.
Tommy Wong, president of Global Sources Exhibitions, said that the new fair is positioned to facilitate trade between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). “China and ASEAN are major trading partners, with bilateral trade reaching $150 billion in the first nine months of 2009,” said Wong.
A new regional free trade agreement between ASEAN and China comes effect this month. Under the agreement, more than 7,000 types of products from China will be made exempt from tariffs.
