PARIS — Adidas AG on Wednesday, following a meeting of its supervisory board at the company’s headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany, revealed two appointments to its executive board. Karen Parkin will head up global human resources, effective May 12, and Gil Steyaert is to succeed Glenn Bennett as the board member responsible for global operations, starting no later than Oct. 1.
Parkin has been the sporting goods firm’s chief human resources office since November 2014. Prior to that, the seasoned Adidas executive, who was born in England and also has an American passport, held a variety of key management roles in the sales, customer service, business development and supply chain departments in Europe and the U.S.
Steyaert, a Belgium-born French national, has worked at Adidas since 1999 in a range of local and regional positions. Since 2013 he has served as managing director, Western Europe, which is Adidas’ largest market. Under his leadership, sales in the region grew by more than 50 percent in 2016 to 5.3 billion euros, or $5.87 billion at average exchange, according to a statement from the brand.
Adidas’ annual general meeting will be held on Thursday at the firm’s headquarters.
