Former Luxottica Group chief executive officer Andrea Guerra is to become the new operative president of Eataly, succeeding founder Oscar Farinetti, according to media reports. Speculation that Guerra was headed to the Italian gastronomic concept had been circulating for months. The well-respected executive is expected to lead Eataly as it readies to go public, a listing that is forecast in 2016 or 2017.
Guerra had been a consultant to Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and, since leaving Luxottica in September 2014 after a decade at the firm, Guerra had been working with Renzi as senior strategic adviser for business, finance and industry. In February, he joined the board of Coach Inc. Guerra also serves on the board of various other companies.
