Andreas Fibig, chief executive officer of International Flavors & Fragrances Inc., had been elected chairman, effective Dec. 1.
He will succeed Doug Tough, former ceo of the firm. Fibig replaced Tough as ceo last month. Tough will retire upon Fibig’s assumption of the chairmanship.
Arthur Martinez, lead director of IFF, said Tough “achieved remarkable results, both strategically and financially, that led to excellent returns for our shareholders.”
Fibig, an IFF director since 2011, was previously president and chair of the management board of Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining Bayer, he held a number of positions of increasing responsibility at Pfizer Inc., including senior vice president of the U.S. Pharmaceutical Operations group and president, Latin America, Africa and Middle East. He also held positions with Pharmacia GmbH and Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH.
