LONDON — Bally has named Heather Shimokawa U.S. vice president of public relations and communications, effective May 10. Shimokawa joins Bally from Vanity Fair, where she was the men’s fashion market director. She previously worked for brands and magazines including Brioni, US Weekly, Rolling Stone, Best Life and Men’s Journal. As an independent fashion consultant and stylist, she styled Jared Leto during his 2014 award season when he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Shimokawa’s position is a new one. She will oversee all aspects of communications in various departments, including public relations, advertising and media relations and special events. She will also work with the CRM, marketing, retail and wholesale teams. Shimokawa reports to Claudia Cividino, chief executive officer of Bally Americas.

Her position is part of a rollout under Bally Group ceo Frederic de Narp.

“She brings with her a wealth of skills and experience in the industry, with her experience in communications and her years as an editor,” said de Narp. “Right now the U.S. market has the biggest potential for growth with the recent opening of the Rodeo Drive flagship and openings in Miami and Houston later this year,” he said.
