From her flaming red hair to her penchant for sky-high platform pumps, her celebrity clientele to her fashion show roster, everything about makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury is larger than life. And that includes the sales results for her namesake product line, which launched in the U.K. in late 2013 and in the U.S. last year. Retailers report that the skin-care and makeup brand has exceeded expectations and is gobbling up market share from more established competitors. “The brand has exceeded our expectations in every way,” said Patricia Saxby of Bergdorf Goodman. “The launch and continued success of Charlotte Tilbury has been incredible,” echoed Net-a-porter’s David Olsen. As for Tilbury herself, the exuberant makeup artist has made it clear she’s only getting started, noting that she wants to be a leader, not a follower. “Unless I can do it better,” she declared earlier this year, “I don’t want to do it.”
