BERLIN — Beiersdorf AG, maker of Nivea, Eucerin and La Prairie, has named a new head of research and development.
May Shana’a is to join the Hamburg-based consumer goods giant on Oct. 1 from U.S. firm Ashland Special Ingredients, where she lead R&D. Lebanese-born Shana’a also previously held management positions in the research departments of Johnson & Johnson and Unilever in Europe and the U.S.
Her predecessor, Klaus-Peter Wittern, has helmed the R&D department since 1998 and is to retire this fall. His innovations at Beiersdorf include the company’s most successful product in 130 years, Nivea Black & White Deodorant, and the use of Q10 in skin care products.
