PARIS — Bimba y Lola has named José Manuel Martínez chief executive officer, as the 13-year-old Spain-based brand gears up for further expansion.
Martinez was previously ceo of Esprit, which he ran for six years, and worked at Inditex for nine years before that.
Founded by sisters María and Uxía Dominguez in 2005, the contemporary brand that sells printed dresses for around 200 euros, as well as sneakers costing more than 100 euros, started out in Spain and Portugal, before quickly expanding abroad.
First was France in 2008, followed by Kuwait and Singapore in 2009. It is now present in 14 markets, including Mexico, Belgium and South Korea, and has plans to reinforce its European, Latin American and Asian presence by adding to its 249 current points of sale.
The label is also working on improving the links between stores and digital channels.
Bimba y Lola employs 1,340 people and plans to create a board of directors, which will include members from outside the group.
