Brennan’s most recent role was at Yoox Net-a-porter Group, where he was deputy post-merger integration and operational excellence director, having previously held the position of group merchandising director.
His background is in online and off-line retail, and he’s worked at brands including Ralph Lauren, John Lewis, House of Fraser and Debenhams.
During his time at YNAP and previously at Net-a-porter Group, Brennan built the merchandising function for Net, The Outnet and Mr Porter. In doing so, he achieved significant improvements in gross margin across all aspects of product planning and trading, according to Browns.
In his new role, he is responsible for overseeing the merchandising, finance, retail, operations and IT departments, as well as the trading and technical elements of the e-commerce function. Browns is owned by the online retail platform Farfetch, which is seeking to fuse the bricks-and-clicks experience.
“Paul’s combination of strong strategic thinking, experience in driving performance and extensive luxury knowledge makes him the ideal person to help us achieve even greater success as a business and to deliver on our strong growth expectations and strategic objectives,” said Rogers, the former fashion director of Net-a-porter.
“Having previously worked alongside him for many years, it’s fantastic to have the opportunity to work together again,” she added.
Brennan said boutique shopping appeals to him on a personal level, although much of his professional experience comes from bricks-and-mortar. “In my new role at Browns, I have the opportunity to bring these two distinct pieces together. This, combined with the opportunity to work alongside Holli again and to support these great teams, makes me very confident in our ability to deliver on our plans.”
The chief operating officer position at Browns replaces that of managing director, a role previously held by Christophe Baldy-Moulinier, who has moved into his new role as director of Farfetch’s supply chain and retail operation director.
Baldy-Moulinier looks after all the boutiques in the Farfetch group, including Browns. He will continue to support Browns directly by retaining his duties in managing the retail, operations, visual merchandising and facilities teams, according to Browns.
