Bryan Everett will join Rite Aid Corp. as executive vice president of store operations, effective Aug. 3.

Everett will succeed Bob Thompson, who will retire in January, and report to Ken Martindale, president and chief operating officer of the drugstore chain, which has nearly 4,600 stores in 31 states and the District of Columbia.

Since 2002, Everett has been with Target Corp., most recently as senior vice president of store operations. During his 13 years with the discounter, he led new format, new store and remodeling programs while also overseeing pharmacy and clinic operations.

He’d previously worked in store operation roles at Fleming Wholesale and Aldi Inc.

Prior to his retirement, Thompson will continue to report to Martindale, assisting in the store operations transition and on specific initiatives designed to improve the customer experience at Rite Aid.
