WALSH LEAVES COTY: Catherine Walsh has resigned as chief communications officer of Coty Inc., according to a spokeswoman for Coty. “After much thought and consideration, Catherine Walsh has decided to resign to pursue other opportunities in luxury and fashion,” the spokeswoman said. The corporate Communications Department will now report to Coty’s interim chief executive officer Bart Becht. Her other duties will be handled by the Categories and Innovation Division.

Walsh is expected to leave by the end of the month. She has been with Coty for 14 years.

She was tapped for her present post in June 2013 and put in charge of all facets of communication, including digital, financial and philanthropic. Her mission was to market the entire company and its 50 brands as Coty prepared to launch its first IPO.

This move followed more than a decade of work as one of the top marketers in the company. Walsh helped reignite the entire celebrity fragrance genre with the 2002 introduction of Jennifer Lopez’s Glow fragrance. Walsh continued to produce a series of other landmark fragrances, both with celebrities and fashion designers, such as Marc Jacobs.
