Vittorio Radice of La Rinascente and Eva Chen of Instagram are joining the board of Yoox Net-a-porter Group.
Both will be independent directors. With these appointments, the board now comprises 11 directors, seven of whom are independent.
Federico Marchetti, chief executive officer of the group, said Chen’s arrival “brings our customers right onto the board. She is one of the industry’s most connected and innovative voices and brings a fresh, youthful perspective together with exceptional expertise at the convergence of social commerce and fashion. She also represents one of our most important markets — the U.S. — and will bring that sensibility to the heart of the business.”
Marchetti also praised Radice as a “a retail connoisseur and a champion of exceptional service. His extensive professional experience of traditional luxury retail in both London and Milan perfectly unites the heritages of the combined group and will provide vital insights as we enter an exciting new phase of growth.”
Radice masterminded the successful repositioning of Italy’s La Rinascente, and is now working on the remodeling of the group’s two newly acquired historic department stores — Illum in Denmark and the KaDeWe Group in Germany. Radice also spearheaded the revival of Selfridges, where he served as chief executive officer from 1996 to 2003.
Chen joined Instagram in July 2015 as head of fashion partnerships after two years as editor in chief of Lucky, and has worked at publications including Elle, Teen Vogue and The Wall Street Journal.
A proposal to appoint Chen and Radice as independent directors of the Yoox Net-a-porter Group to be submitted to shareholders was first reported last month.
