PARIS — Longtime Giorgio Armani executive Fabio Mancone has joined SMCP Group, the holding company for the Sandro, Maje and Claudie Pierlot contemporary brands.

Mancone has been named head of global branding and business development strategies, a new post at the Paris-based fashion firm.

SMCP said Mancone would lead its marketing, communication and image building efforts across all markets and channels, and spearhead moves into new product categories, including accessories, along with licensing and other growth avenues.

He is also to sit on SCMP’s executive committee and management board.

Mancone was most recently chief executive officer of Giorgio Armani’s retail division for France and Benelux, and a communication and image strategy adviser. Prior to that, he was based at Giorgio Armani’s Milan headquarters and headed global communications and licensing.

Mancone has also been senior vice president, marketing, at Polo Ralph Lauren Europe, and international general manager at Giorgio Armani Parfums, the L’Oréal division that owns the Armani beauty license.

Mancone started his career at Unilever, and then Kraft Foods.

SMCP reported a 20.6 percent rise in 2013 revenues to 422.1 million euros, or $578.4 million at average exchange, as reported.

Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR) bought a 65 percent stake in SMCP in June 2013.
