Farla Efros has been promoted to president of HRC Advisory, the strategic retail consulting unit of Hilco Global.
Efros, who has been executive vice president and chief operating officer of HRC since joining the firm in 2013, will continue to report to Antony Karabus, chief executive officer of HRC, with expanded responsibilities reflecting the unit’s diversification into areas such as omnichannel retailing.
Prior to joining HRC, Efros was executive vice president and chief merchandising officer of Office Depot, where she helped implement a new merchandising strategy for the office supply chain.
Earlier, she was senior vice president of performance improvement at Karabus Management, working with Karabus at what was then a unit of PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada, and a partner at The Partnering Group Inc. with responsibility for best practices in merchandising and marketing.
“Farla’s promotion to president is a direct result of her demonstrated leadership and success, both in helping HRC to deliver highly effective retail strategies to our clients and in building the capabilities of the team,” Karabus said.
Hilco, which has made equity investments in a large number of enterprises in apparel and other sectors in recent years, operates companies involved in enterprise and real estate evaluation, real estate, merchant resources, asset restructuring and recovery, and receivables financing in addition to its advisory arm, previously known as SD Retail Consulting.
