Gaetano Sallorenzo has been appointed new chief executive officer of BVM SpA, which produces and distributes the Les Copains brand, as well as Giambattista Valli’s ready-to-wear.

Sallorenzo relies on an extensive experience in the industry acquired over the years as ceo of Replay, and prior to this post, as ceo of Calvin Klein Jeans and Sportswear for Europa and Asia. Before this, he was president North America at Giorgio Armani.

Mario Bandiera, founder and chairman of Bologna, Italy-based parent company BVM said Sallorenzo will be able to contribute to the growth of the company both “in terms of long-term market strategies and product research activities and marketing.”

Sallorenzo succeeds Luca Bertolini, who had joined the company in the summer of 2013.

Les Copains was launched 60 years ago by Bandiera. Over the years, Les Copains has worked with designers such as Antonio Marras, Antonio Berardi, Albino d’Amato, Alessandro Dell’Acqua and Graeme Black. The brand, which has a history in fine knitwear and is currently designed by creative director Stefania Bandiera, is expanding its retail presence in the U.S. as well as its partnership with Saks Fifth Avenue.

Last year, Les Copains tapped Peter Som to design the group’s contemporary Blue Collection.
