Crocs Inc. has named Gregg Ribatt chief executive officer.
Ribatt most recently was interim ceo of Spanx Inc. Before that he held positions as president and ceo of Collective Brands Performance and Lifestyle Group, and was president, ceo and director for Stuart Weitzman Holdings.
Ribbett will be based in Boston.
Andrew Rees, who was serving as the company’s principal executive officer, will continue in his role as president and report to Ribbett.
In addition, Jason Giordano, managing director of Blackstone Group’s private equity group, was appointed to Croc’s board.
Blackstone made a $200 million investment, or a 13 percent stake, in Crocs in December 2013.
The company, founded in 2002, is known for its colorful closed-cell resin clogs. It at one point seemed out of favor in 2008 when the company posted a loss and consumers appeared tired of the trendy footwear.
The company has since broadened its product line.
