A member of the group’s executive committee, he also adds the responsibility for the Italian eyewear manufacturer’s Global Sports Commercial Channel. For three years, Blomqvist was Safilo’s chief commercial officer. His goal is now to build market share, accelerate profitable growth and establish global leadership in North America.
“We see tremendous opportunities to further develop our strength in North America, and plan to invest in our go-to-market capabilities and customer care, while enhancing our global brand portfolio,” said the group’s ceo, Luisa Delgado.
Born in Finland, Blomqvist worked for 10 years at Procter & Gamble, holding sales and commercial management roles in Nordic countries, Western Europe, Russia, Turkey, the Middle East, South Africa, Korea and Australia.
In addition to its own brands, including Carrera, Polaroid and Smith, Safilo produces eyewear collections for brands ranging from Dior and Fendi to Marc Jacobs and Max Mara.
Earlier this week, Safilo announced the early renewal of the license for the production and distribution of Jimmy Choo eyewear collections until Dec. 31, 2023. The new license includes the launch of a Jimmy Choo men’s collection, with a first capsule edition to be presented at the brand’s boutiques and at selected optical stores starting from January 2018. The company underscored the brand’s success in North America.
