Saks Fifth Avenue veteran Denise Magid has been tapped by Intermix as its new chief merchant to oversee the buying team.
Intermix was purchased by Gap Inc. two years ago.
With Magid on board, Gia Ghezzi takes on the role of fashion director. Jyothi Rao continues as president of Intermix.
Magid was Saks’ senior vice president and general merchandise manager in women’s ready-to-wear, private brands and kids. At Saks, Magid was succeeded by Mia Young. Magid worked at Saks for about 12 years, starting as a buyer and rising to divisional merchandise manager; a year ago she was promoted to her last position.
This is the second key merchant departure at Saks in roughly a month. Jennifer de Winter, who was Saks’ chief merchant, left in January to join Tiffany & Co. as senior vice president, Northern America. Marigay McKee, Saks’ president, has been playing the major role in reshaping Saks’ buying and fashion direction.
