Ippolita has appointed Aja Passero as chief merchant, a newly created role for the 14-year-old company.

In her new position, Passero will devise an overarching merchandising strategy for the U.S. and international markets to maximize production, design and sales.

Passero comes from Bergdorf Goodman, where as senior vice president and general merchandise manager she helped launch lines like Alexander Wang, ALC and Theyskens Theory. She also helped develop and build the brand presence for 3.1 Phillip Lim, Helmut Lang, Rag & Bone and J Brand.

“We’ve achieved our success up to this point by creating the most compelling and colorful fine jewelry in the market.  We are excited to have Aja on the team because her amazing experience, taste and product instincts will ensure that we continue to lead in the market,” Ippolita chief executive officer Joe Cavalcante told WWD.
