In a new role for the brand, outdoor footwear brand Keen said Jens Christian Meier will serve as executive vice president of global value chain. The Portland, Ore.-based company said Meier will help “drive operational excellence” as the brand continues to grow its business.

“In this new role for Keen, Meier will manage and implement industry-leading best practices for Keen’s value supply chain spanning from raw materials to the delivery of finished products, including owned manufacturing, third-party sourcing, planning, distribution and logistics,” the company said in a statement.

Casey Sheahan, president of Keen, said Meier’s “track record in global value supply chain management and strategy will bring even more best-in-class products and service to our fans around the globe.”

Meier is a footwear industry veteran having served in various executive roles at Ecco Footwear, which included executive vice president of global manufacturing, supply chain and logistics. Meier also served as chief operating officer Elefanten Shoes GMBH. Most recently, he served as chief operating officer and managing director at Legero Shoes in a “value chain” role.

Keen said in its statement that while at Legero, “Meier increased global revenue, significantly improved delivery performance, elevated product quality, and implemented new processes to improve efficiency.”

Keen said it will leverage that experience as well as use this new role to innovate. “Aside from strengthening Keen’s global value supply chain, manufacturing operations, product quality and world-wide service, Meier’s hire continues Keen’s dedication to propelling the brand forward through innovative product collections and increased sustainability efforts throughout the supply chain,” the company noted.

The company said Meier’s appointment is the seventh “high-profile hire” for the company over the past year. Other notable additions include Sheahan as president as well as John Eberle as general manager of outdoor, lifestyle and kids. Other recent hires include Tyler LaMotte as vice president of brand marketing and Christy Saito as vice president of global merchandising, outdoor and lifestyle as well as Rob Langstaff as vice president of international.

Keen said Meier will be based in the private company’s Portland headquarters.
