Joe’s Jeans Inc. has increased the size of its board to eight members from seven with the addition of Joanne Calabrese.

Calabrese, the founder and owner of the San Francisco-based JCR3 retail consulting firm, previously was president of The Body Shop’s Americas region and earlier held executive posts with retailers including Gap Inc., Macy’s Inc, DFS Group and, at the start of her career, Marshall Field & Co.

With the expansion of the board, it now has six independent members. The nonindependents are Marc Crossman, president and chief executive officer of the Los Angeles-based jeanswear firm, and Joe Dahan, its creative director.

Samuel Furrow, chairman, said, “Joanne brings many years of retail industry knowledge, experience and relationships to Joe’s. We are excited to add a person with such extensive experience in the retail industry to our board of directors. We look forward to Joanne’s guidance and input as we continue to expand the Joe’s brand in the retail marketplace.”

Leadership Capital Group, an executive search firm, assisted the board in its pursuit of an additional director. A company spokesman said Calabrese’s committee assignments on the board will be determined later.
