John W. Iason, formerly president of textile converter N. Erlanger Blumgart, and most recently sales vice president of at Lucerne Textiles Inc., New York, died on Oct. 28. He was 65.

Iason spent 40 years in the textile industry, working with his father, the late Girard (Jerry) Iason, at the family business, N. Erlanger Blumgart. In an article in WWD in 1994, the company was said to have $70 million in annual sales.

He was an active member of the Textile Distributors Association and a principal over the years in several other textile firms, including SNS and Greenhalgh Woodhall Mills.

Iason was a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and the University of North Carolina. He is survived by his wife, Valorie; a son, Scott, and a daughter, Lizzie, and two grandchildren, Drew and Kate.
