Jonas Prising, chief executive officer of ManpowerGroup, has been elected to the board of Kohl’s Corp.
Prising will serve until Kohl’s next annual meeting and then he will be eligible for re-election at that time. He has been assigned to the Menomonee Falls, Wisc.-based retailer’s governance and nominating committee.
Kevin Mansell, Kohl’s chairman, president and ceo, said Prising’s “leadership of a major corporation with complex operations and his broad-based knowledge of workforce solutions and labor market expertise will be valuable assets to Kohl’s.”
The size of Kohl’s board had been reduced to nine from 10 at the company’s annual meeting in May, when Peter Sommerhauser retired as a director. Prising’s addition returns the roster to 10.
Of the 10, all but Mansell are deemed to be independent. Stephen Watson, the former ceo of the department store division of Dayton-Hudson Corp. and Gander Mountain LLC, serves as lead independent director.
