NEW YORK — Justin Cupps has been appointed president of Gant North America, effective Dec. 8.
He succeeds David Arbuthnot, who left the company.
Cupps will be responsible for all Gant’s operations in North America, reporting to Patrik Nilsson, global chief executive officer, who joined in April from Adidas, where he worked for 23 years, most recently as president of the German activewear firm’s North American division.
Cupps also had been president and ceo of Coolcore, a division of Burch Creative Capital. Earlier, he was with Adidas America as managing director/vice president — mall channel.
“As we continue to grow the business, [Cupps’] expertise in building iconic brands and extensive background in sales, marketing and product knowledge will be instrumental to Gant’s success in North America,” said Nilsson.
Arbuthnot, who had been ceo of Gant U.S. for the past three years, led the growth of the Gant Rugger business in the U.S. through opening retail stores and the relaunch of e-commerce, said Nilsson. Arbuthnot couldn’t be reached for comment on his plans.
