BERLIN — The Karstadt supervisory board on has named Andre Maeder chief retail officer of the German Karstadt Department Store group.
Maeder has been advising Karstadt on retail distribution for the past six months. The group operates 83 Karstadt department stores, three Karstadt Premium houses (KaDeWe, Alsterhaus and Öberpollinger), 26 Karstadt sport stores and its online store, http://www.karstadt.de.
Maeder was previously chief executive officer of the Swiss Charles Vögele Group, which has 800 doors in Europe. Prior to that, he was a board member of Hugo Boss with responsibility for the German brand’s accessories business, served as deputy ceo of the German ready-to-wear giant S.Oliver and was also executive merchandise director for Harrods.
Karstadt has also brought in Gillian Berkmen as chief merchandise officer. Berkmen was most recently group brand and commercial director of Mothercare plc. Her 30-year career also includes stints at River Island, Harrods, Watches of Switzerland and Sears U.K.
