Citizens of Humanity has appointed Kathy Kweon, formerly vice president and brand director at AG, president of the company. She succeeds Amy Williams, who’d held the post since 2012 and takes the new post of chief executive officer.
The appointments at the Huntington Park, Calif.-based premium denim firm are effective June 10.
“Over the last few years, we have cultivated our partnerships with top retailers, but know there is more to do,” Williams said. “Kathy’s strong record and knowledge of both the international and domestic markets offer us a unique opportunity that we simply could not pass up.”
Kweon is the latest hire from AG. In March, Jazmin Kim joined Citizens as Goldsign’s creative director and the design director for Fabric-Brand’s first women’s offshoot but recently left the company. Catherine Ryu assumed responsibility as head of women’s design at Citizens after a stint at AG.
In addition, Hiro Ikuta came aboard in the newly created position of director of fabrics and textiles from Japan’s Itochu Corp.
“As innovation in textiles and textile processing evolve, it is important to add team members who can help keep Citizens at the forefront of our industry and quality people like Hiro help us accomplish that goal,” said Jerome Dahan, Citizens’ chairman, who founded the company in 2003. “Creativity is a collaborative process and there can never be too many talented members on our design team.”
