Elana Drell Szyfer has been named executive vice president of global brand strategy at Kenneth Cole Productions Inc., overseeing marketing and human resources, a new post.

Szyfer will spearhead global brand strategic initiatives, including strategic planning and marketing, and public communications, which includes public affairs and social enterprise initiatives. She will also oversee global e-commerce and human resources. She begins today and reports to Kenneth Cole, chairman and chief creative officer.

Most recently, Szyfer was the chief executive officer of Ahava Corp., where she directed the company’s strategic agenda and its global operations. Before that, she was senior vice president, global marketing for Estée Lauder, where she worked for more than six years on both the Estée Lauder and Prescriptives brands. While at Lauder, she developed and instituted corporate strategic initiatives, as well as led brand positioning, creative development and product launches. Earlier, she worked eight years at L’Oréal, rising to vice president of marketing for Lancôme.
