Lanita Layton, a longtime merchant for Holt Renfrew, has been named managing director of Hugo Boss Canada.
She starts June 6 and will report to Mark Brashear, chairman and chief executive officer of the Americas for the German apparel brand.
Brashear said Layton will focus on “strengthening our relationship with our existing partners in Canada.” He said the brand, which operates six stores in that country and has a strong wholesale presence in Holt Renfrew and Harry Rosen, is “well-represented in Canada” and distribution is not expected to be expanded. But Layton’s “proven track record of achieving sustained revenue and profit objectives in a highly challenging, competitive market” is expected to enhance the business there.
For the last 10 years, Layton has held several key positions with Holt Renfrew, the luxury high-end department store based in Toronto. Most recently, she was vice president of special projects. Before that, she was vice president and general merchandising manager for men’s wear, footwear, gifts and gourmet, and children’s wear for six years.
