PARIS — LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton has named Pierre Louette president and chief executive officer of Les Echos-Le Parisien Group, the luxury conglomerate’s French newspaper businesses.

The executive comes from the telecommunications giant Orange, and previously headed the French news agency Agence France Presse.

In a statement, LVMH chairman and ceo Bernard Arnault stressed the importance of the digital sphere for Louette’s mission.

“I am sure that given his experience in the communications sector, he will work with the talented teams to further strengthen the influence and visibility of our titles and more generally, the relevance of our media especially in the digital sphere,” the luxury titan said.

Louette succeeds Francis Morel, who held the position for seven years. He launched the weekend magazine for the French business daily Les Echos and integrated a local Paris newspaper into LVMH’s media business.
