Massa has held a variety of roles at a range of international companies, including the Moncler Group, Brooks Brothers and Replay. He will oversee both Larusmiani’s ready-to-wear and textile businesses.
“Manlio has the experience necessary to structure the company for further growth,” said Larusmiani president and chief executive officer Guglielmo Miani. “Following his appointment, I’ll be able to focus more on the development of G. Lorenzi.”
In November 2015, Larusmiani signed an agreement with Milanese men’s accessories and cutlery-maker G. Lorenzi, which the previous year closed its shop first established in 1929 on Via Montenapoleone. Even though he retained the rights to his brand, G. Lorenzi owner Aldo Lorenzi passed the baton to Larusmiani, which installed the original furniture from the former G. Lorenzi boutique in the basement of its flagship on Via Montenapoleone. There, customers are able to shop high-end knives, men’s grooming tools, pipes and cigar cutters as well as cuff links from the G. Lorenzi archives, which a group of 40 artisans continue to reproduce.
“Focusing more on G. Lorenzi, I hope to further expand its business, also pushing the artisans to manufacture brand-new styles,” Miani said.
Larusmiani, which features a second flagship in China, is gearing up to debut its fall men’s collection later this year at several Saks Fifth Avenue locations, including the New York flagship and Brookfield Place units. “The collection will be showcased in the exclusive ‘Gentleman’s Trunk’ display, which we will also ship out to ten of our best stockists in the world,” he said.
Miani also revealed that the company is in negotiations for the opening of additional monobrand stores in Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Iran.
In addition, Larusmiani signed a partnership with Palm Spring’s Parker resort, which will carry, in its recently inaugurated boutique, a selection of the Milanese brand’s velvet slippers.
Larusmiani’s collaboration with Parker Palm Springs started last year, when the brand flew to California to shoot the catalogue of its spring 2017 collection, featuring the American resort as background.
