PARIS — Marimekko Corp. named Tiina Alahuhta-Kasko its new president effective April 9 as part of a revamped management structure.
Alahuhta-Kasko, 34, is currently chief operating officer and is to assume those duties under the president title. She has been with the company since 2005 and also held the title of chief marketing officer.
Marimekko noted it plans to recruit a new marketing director.
Pekka Lundmark, chairman of the board of directors at Marimekko since 2008, plans to step down, precipitating the executive shuffle.
Mika Ihamuotila, the current president, chief executive officer and vice chairman of board, is to stand for election as Marimekko’s new chairman and step down as president.
As chairman and ceo, Ihamuotila’s duties are to include developing and implementing the Finnish design company’s strategy, managing its financial affairs and stakeholder relations, and developing leadership within the Marimekko Group.
Elections are scheduled at the firm’s annual shareholders‘ meeting on April 9. After that date, Alahuhta-Kasko, is to act as the chairman of Marimekko’s management group.
“Our joint objective is to offer our customers even more interesting products and experiences, and increase our profitability while gaining a stronger foothold in the global market,” she commented.
