Matteo Marzotto

Matteo Marzotto has resigned from the role of vice president of IEG Italian Exhibition Group, the trade show operator which originated from the merging of Fiera di Vicenza and Rimini Fiera in 2016.

“I am sorry to leave IEG Italian Exhibition Group just a few days before the stock exchange listing project of which I have always been the first supporter and for which I consider to be now obtained,” wrote Marzotto in a post on his social media accounts. “I’m happy if my resignation will help identify what still needs to be improved in the company.” According to market sources, Marzotto the group’s management did not agree on strategies for future growth.

Marzotto was named president of Fiera di Vicenza at the end of December 2013, and during his tenure, he relaunched and revitalized jewelry trade show VicenzaOro by both increasing its international media exposure and introducing the efficient and appealing The Boutique Show format, developed in collaboration with former IEG general director Corrado Facco, who exited the company in May.

Marzotto is president of contemporary premium brand Dondup, which last week unveiled the new D/Zero sustainable project. To this end, the company teamed with Italian denim manufacturer Candiani to create an innovative denim fabric, employing very limited quantities of water and chemicals.

Marzotto is also launching a book, called “Bike Tourgether: Riding Research” and published by Italian publishing company Cairo, which highlights the entrepreneur’s continuous commitment in the fight against cystic fibrosis, the genetic disease which killed his sister Annalisa in 1990.
