LONDON — Mulberry, the British luxury goods label, has appointed Julie Gilhart to its board as an independent non-executive director, the firm said Tuesday.
Gilhart is a freelance fashion consultant for companies including Amazon and LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. She also sits on the boards of surfer Kelly Slater’s label Outerknown LLC and Parsons The New School for Design. Prior to that, she spent 18 years at Barneys, most recently as fashion director, leaving the firm in 2010.
Godfrey Davis, executive chairman of Mulberry said: “I…look forward to [Gilhart] bringing her considerable fashion and brand experience to bear as we continue to build Mulberry into a global luxury brand.”
As reported, last week Mulberry named Johnny Coca as creative director, almost 18 months after its former creative director Emma Hill left the firm. Coca, who was previously head design director for leather goods, accessories, shoes and jewelry at Céline, will join Mulberry in July.
