The National Retail Federation has promoted Ellen Davis to president of the NRF Foundation.

Davis, who was the foundation’s executive director, continues as NRF’s senior vice president for research and strategic initiatives.

“Under Ellen’s leadership, the breadth, depth and positive influence of the NRF Foundation has been transformative,” said Matthew Shay, NRF’s president and chief executive officer. “Ellen has translated strategic vision into reality.”

“It has taken a true team effort to achieve the successes we have seen, whether it’s raising awareness of the importance of the retail industry to the economy or helping job seekers become trained and find a career in retail,” said Davis. “There is still much work to be done.”

The NRF Foundation is involved with job-readiness training, education, scholarship programs and credentialing.

Davis joined the NRF in 2002 as manager of media relations and became executive director of the foundation in 2012. She launched the annual NRF Foundation Gala, formed the NRF Talent Acquisition Group of human resources executives from retailers, and she was instrumental in creating the NRF’s “Rise Up” program that works with nonprofits to provide job training and retail skills.
