PARIS — Paolo de Cesare, president and chief executive officer of French department store chain Printemps, has been named president of the Intercontinental Group of Department Stores. He succeeds Simon Susman, non-executive chairman and former ceo of Woolworths in South Africa.
De Cesare’s nomination became effective during last week’s Global Department Store Summit in Zurich, Switzerland. The next GDSS will take place in Toronto on June 1-2, 2017.
Billing itself as the world’s largest department store association, IGDS is a non-profit organization with members including Nordstrom, Holt Renfrew and Myer.
