LONDON — Patrick Kraaijeveld and Rob Schilder have been named co-chief executive officers of G-Star Raw, WWD has learned.
Kraaijeveld and Schilder were previously chief operations officer, and chief commercial and creative officer, respectively. Kraaijeveld and Schilder will succeed Jos van Tilburg, who served as ceo for 27 years. Van Tilburg will remain as the chairman of the board and shift his focus from operations to strategy.
“Ongoing product development combined with creativity and innovation has been our guiding principle since day one,” said van Tilburg. “Rob and Patrick are dedicated to continue and expand on this mission.”
The appointments come in the wake of Aitor Throup taking over as executive creative director for the Amsterdam-based company. Throup, who took over the position last month, will oversee the men’s and women’s mainline ranges and RAW Research. He had worked as a creative consultant for the Dutch denim brand since 2013.
Launched in 1989, G-Star Raw designs men’s and women’s premium denim. Earlier this year, Pharrell Williams became a co-owner of the brand. G-Star has more than 60,000 points of sale globally in 70 countries with flagships in New York, London, Paris, Tokyo and Amsterdam. It is sold at retailers including Asos, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s.
