PARIS — Pauline Ducruet has been named Lancaster’s new ambassador in Asia, a burgeoning market for the Coty Inc.-owned skin-and-sun-care brand.
Ducruet is the elder daughter of Princess Stéphanie of Monaco and a granddaughter of Princess Grace of Monaco. Monaco is where Lancaster founded its laboratories in 1946.
Lancaster, also in the Seventies, launched the Ligne Princière skin-care line that was inspired by Princess Grace and became the “Patented Purveyor to Her Serene Highness Princess Grace of Monaco.”
“So it really all ties into the legacy of the brand,” said Jill Scalamandre, chief marketing officer of Coty’s skin-care division.
“Since I was a child, I have always heard Lancaster spoken of as a prestigious brand, and I am proud to have been chosen to become its new ambassadress,” said Ducruet in a statement.
Lancaster is ambitious for Asia and especially China, which is the label’s fastest-growing market, with a 35 percent uptick in Coty’s most recent fiscal year, and its third-largest market.
Research into what has been bolstering Lancaster’s gains in Asia — alongside well-received product launches there — revealed its consumers love Monaco and respect its laboratories, continued Scalamandre.
Ducruet will appear in Lancaster advertising in January, for the 365 Anti-Dark Spot serum.
Scalamandre said, “She continues to infuse a fresh modernity into the brand as well as the rich legacy of Monaco.”
