Herink joins from Tory Burch, where, for the past four years, he was vice president and general merchandise manager, global retail. Prior to Tory Burch, he was at Saks Fifth Avenue, rising from women’s European ready-to-wear buyer to vice president and divisional merchandise manager; before that, the executive served as buyer and merchandising manager at Helmut Lang.
At Akris, Herink will oversee the company’s business in North America, including operation, strategic direction and expansion. He will report to Peter Kriemler, the president and ceo of the St. Gallen, Switzerland-based firm.
In the U.S., Akris operates freestanding stores in New York, Dallas, Boston and Bal Harbor, Fla., with a network of upscale specialty stores that includes Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Nordstrom.
Herink is succeeding Melissa Beste, who recently joined investment firm InterLuxe as ceo. InterLuxe took a controlling stake in Jason Wu in September.
