Polartec, a manufacturer of premium specialty fabrics, has hired Darren Josey as its North American marketing manager. In this role, Josey will be responsible for marketing the Polartec brand across all categories and business channels in North America, including outdoor, fitness, fashion, workwear, military, upholstery and medical.

Josey joins Polartec from Topo Athletic, where he served most recently as a strategic account manager, after previously working in sales operations for Vibram USA.

Josey, who succeeds Lindsey Thompson in the post, said he was looking forward to taking his “small company work ethic of doing a lot with a little, to grow Polartec in new and existing markets.”

Gary Smith, chief executive officer of Polartec, said, “Darren will add an important level of support for our diversified business, working with the best apparel brands in the world, as well as supporting our business in new product categories including upholstery and medical.”

Since inventing modern synthetic fleece in 1981, the engineers at Polartec have focused on fabric technology. Today, Polartec products range from advanced lightweight wicking fabric to insulation and weather protection textiles, and are utilized by leading apparel brands, the U.S. military and other foreign military.
