LONDON Compagnie Financière Richemont, parent of brands including Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Alfred Dunhill, said Dominique Rochat would not stand for re-election to the board of directors at the company’s next annual general meeting for health reasons. He was appointed to the board in 2010.

“The board of directors would like to thank … Rochat for his valuable contributions to the group since his appointment in 2010, and wishes him a return to good health,” the company said in a statement.

Richemont also announced the nomination of Jean-Blaise Eckert for election to the board of directors at the next general meeting, to be held Sept. 12.

His appointment is subject to the approval of the shareholders. Eckert will serve as a non-executive director and become a member of the board’s audit and nominations committees.

Eckert has been a practicing lawyer since 1991, and a partner of Lenz & Staehelin since 1999, advising on national and international corporate, commercial and tax law.

He serves on the board of several Swiss companies, including Ladurée International SA and UL (Underwriters Laboratories) AG, and on the board of several not-for-profit organizations, including Fondation pour la Musique et la Culture, Genève.

He also teaches in the master’s degree programs of the University of Geneva and of Lausanne.
