Shiseido Americas Corp. has tapped Jean-Marc Plisson to head the company’s newly created Beauty Prestige Group.
The group will be made up of Shiseido, the company’s designer fragrances and Laura Mercier. Nars and Bare Escentuals will continue to operate separately.
Plisson, who will join Shiseido from his role as global chief executive officer at Fresh Inc., will work with business leaders in the Beauty Prestige Group to capitalize on growth opportunities. He will have a focus on some of Shiseido’s new acquisitions, including developing a worldwide growth strategy for Laura Mercier. He will also work to grow the Shiseido brand in the U.S. Plisson will report to Marc Rey, president and ceo of Shiseido Americas.
“I am honored by the opportunity to lead as president of the Beauty Prestige Group,” Plisson said. “Shiseido has an outstanding portfolio of unique and beloved prestige brands supported by passionate customers, and we will capture untapped opportunities in the U.S. by leveraging collective resources within the Beauty Prestige Group. Shiseido has an incredible team and I will be proud to lead the group as we create a more powerful presence in the prestige beauty market.”
Plisson has spent roughly the past 20 years working with beauty brands under LVMH Möet Hennessy Louis Vuitton. Most recently, he was with Fresh, where he worked to globally scale the skin-care and fragrance brand. He also held roles as chief operating officer or chief financial officer for Dior, Givenchy, Guerlain and Aqua Di Parma.
“I look forward to welcoming Jean-Marc to Shiseido,” said Rey. “He is a standout talent in our industry. His leadership experience and stellar track record at LVMH will prove to be great assets as we continue to grow our presence in the prestige beauty market. It is both an exciting prospect and a proud testament to the strength of Shiseido Americas that such a talented executive has decided to joint our group. I couldn’t think of a better addition to our already incredibly strong leadership team.”
