He will succeed Mike Nemoir, who is retiring after 45 years with the department store and its predecessor companies. Stoffel will report to Brendan Hoffman, president and chief executive officer.

Stoffel joined Bon-Ton in September 2008 as divisional merchandise manager of soft home and soon added responsibility for furniture. In May 2011, he became dmm of men’s sportswear, where Hoffman said he “successfully worked with his team to update the assortment and provide freshness.” Prior to Bon-Ton, Stoffel was in the merchandising division of Kauffmann’s, overseeing shoes, men’s collections and intimate apparel.

“Tom’s breadth of experience with the company in the variety of areas he’s served makes him an excellent choice for this position,” Hoffman said in an internal memo issued Wednesday.
