PARIS — Stéphane Roche has been named chief executive officer of Vivarte, the ailing French fashion group.
He will work with Patrick Puy, president of Vivarte, on the strategy to relaunch the two brands remaining in the group, La Halle and Caroll, the company said in a statement on Monday.
Prior to signing on with Vivarte, Roche for one year led the retail and development of Fashion 3, a bundle of fashion brands, including Jules, Brice and Pimkie, owned by the Mulliez family. Roche also served as managing director of Brice, a multichannel men’s wear brand, for almost seven years, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Vivarte is among France’s largest clothing groups by sales, but has struggled to pay back about 1.5 billion euros to four investment funds that serve as shareholders and lenders to the company. The group has already sold off a number of brands in recent months, such as Chevignon, Minelli, San Marina, Cosmoparis, Naf Naf, Kookaï, André and Pataugas.
