The Wet Seal has named Judd P. Tirnauer executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Tirnauer, 47, starts in his new position on May 1. He succeeds the current cfo Thomas R. Hillebrandt, who is leaving to pursue other opportunities.
Most recently, Tirnauer was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Destination Maternity. While there, he led the finance team and oversaw various operational areas including real estate, procurement and marketing partnerships.
Tirnauer said, “I look forward to applying my financial and operational expertise as we work to connect customers with the new, reinvigorated Wet Seal brand.”
Melanie B. Cox, chief executive officer, said the addition of Tirnauer is “consistent with our strategy to rebuild and return Wet Seal to its former position of prominence among its target customer base of young women 18 to 24.”
She added that now that the company is privately held “and with different needs, it’s an appropriate time for this change.”
Hillebrandt became interim cfo in December 2014. He helped the company through its voluntary chapter 11 petition for bankruptcy court protection in January 2015 — it was sold a few months later to Versa Capital Management — and on board during the company’s early stage of its transformation after its exit from bankruptcy.
