Zanellato's Postina bag

FIGHTING FAKES: Milan’s local police coordinated an anticounterfeiting operation on Tuesday in several stores and local markets in the Chinatown area, as well as in the warehouses of two Chinese companies located in Sesto Fiorentino near Florence.

During the raid in Milan and in the Tuscan warehouses, the police seized more than 45,000 counterfeit leather products, and 4,200 items of them were Zanellato’s Postina bags. The Vicenza-based company, which introduced the style in 2011, said this is the largest confiscated quantity of the popular bag ever seized and has released guidelines helping customers distinguishing fakes from the originals.

The owners of the two Chinese companies, whose turnover is estimated at about 1 million euros, or $1.1 million at current exchange, are facing legal action.
