Los Angeles-based Forever 21 faces a lawsuit from a Gardena, Calif., manufacturer that claims the fast-fashion retailer hasn’t paid up on a past due bill.
The complaint, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court last month, comes from Fashion Life Inc., which alleges breach of contract by Forever 21. The retailer, according to the complaint, owes Fashion Life $55,832.50 for a shipment of women’s clothing made for the retailer. The complaint goes on to say the shipment was accepted with no returns or other complaints indicating there were any issues with the merchandise. Fashion Life said in its complaint it has attempted multiple times to collect payment from the retailer.
A Forever 21 spokeswoman did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
Fashion Life does business as Fang, which got its start as a juniors fitted T-shirt brand. The line has been sold in retailers such as Belk, Kohl’s and Wet Seal among others.
The privately held, family-owned Forever 21 operates more than 700 stores globally. The company has said in the past it aims to reach $8 billion in sales by 2017.
