PARIS — The appeals court here has upheld a 2008 decision that sided with LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton in its fight over counterfeit luxury goods sold on auction site eBay, LVMH said.
However, the court reduced the amount eBay Inc. and eBay AG must pay LVMH in compensation to 5.7 million euros, or about $7.3 million, from 38.9 million euros, or $49.8 million. Dollar figures are converted from euros at current exchange rates.
The original case concerned transactions that took place between 2001 and 2006 involving counterfeit Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior products, as well as Guerlain, Givenchy and Kenzo perfumes sold outside its selective distribution network, LVMH said.
