Top Pantone colors for men’s collections picked by NYC designers for fall 2010.
1.
SEDONA SAGE PANTONE 18-5105
The favorite color among men’s collections this fall “is not just an ordinary charcoal gray for men, because it’s got this terrific blue-green cast to it,” Eiseman said.
2.
CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE PANTONE 19-1526
“Chocolate Truffle is huge for men’s fashion this fall, because it’s a rich, deep brown that’s going to be ideal for tailored suits,” Eiseman said.
3.
WOODBINE PANTONE 18-0538
This version of green — as in women’s — sits in third place. “There’s no question that this is a favorite for men’s wear, too,” Eiseman said, adding it will look great in activewear and outerwear.
4.
LIBERTY PANTONE 19-3850
“Liberty is a classic for men’s suits because it’s not just ordinary navy blue,” Eiseman said. “It has more energy — it’s a new feel for the color blue this season.”
5.
OYSTER GRAY PANTONE 14-1107
This neutral shade of gray will be ideal for suits and tailored looks, Eiseman noted. It is also likely to be seen in outerwear.
6.
RUGBY TAN PANTONE 15-1315
“Rugby Tan has a deeper tone on the brown scale than Rose Dust, which has more pink in it,” Eiseman said. “This is a great, strong neutral color that will really speak to the guys out there.”
7.
POMPEIAN RED PANTONE 18-1658
“This is a masculine, deeper version of the Lipstick Red we see on the women’s side,” Eiseman said. “We will see this combined with the Chocolate Truffle, the Woodbine or the Sedona Sage, in a print tie, for example.”
8.
LAGOON PANTONE 16-5418
Surprisingly, this is a top color for men, as well as women. “We’re going to see this in active sportswear — it’ll be all over the ski slopes,” Eiseman said. “But it will also have a presence in sweaters, and prints.”
9.
GOLD EARTH PANTONE 15-1234
“This is considered to be a subtle, more acceptable yellow for men this fall,” Eiseman said. “It has more vitality than a standard camel color. It’s viewed as a neutral but has that yellow undertone.
10.
ENDIVE PANTONE 13-0632
Eiseman noted Endive will be found in combinations with Liberty, Lagoon or even Gold Earth. “You’ll see it in plaid and flannel shirts,” she said. “It’s a great color to use in combinations.”
