LONDON — Ahead of London Fashion Week, which begins on Friday and runs through Sept. 20, the British Fashion Council has announced the creation of a new, internal management structure that will report to chief executive officer Caroline Rush.

The changes come after the retirement earlier this year of Simon Ward, the organization’s chief operating officer and former co-ceo.

Clara Mercer has been named communications director; Jenico Preston, commercial director, and Laura Strain, finance director.

According to the BFC, the team is to work on developing and supporting new projects, creating workflows for strategies set by the board, and review and manage internal skills and resources.

In addition to its work supporting the British designers, the BFC contributes to the Creative Industries Council and the Creative Industries Federation.

“Earlier this year we bolstered our board of directors to improve governance and to assist in developing and setting strategy for the organization,” said Rush.

“In order to deliver on the board’s ambition it is essential that we have a strong internal leadership team to ensure financially and operationally we remain agile and that, in a changing industry, we are in a position to not just adapt, but to lead.”
